Overview Group lessons are only offered online. Mrs. Julia offers group lessons for piano as well as music theory group classes. These lessons are directed specifically for homeschool families. They are held weekly and last for approximately 40 minutes each. Piano Class You do not need a traditional piano at home to take lessons. You do, however, need to have a simple full-size (88 keys) electronic keyboard that is touch sensitive, or a traditional piano. You will also need to have a device that has a good internet connection and a way to set that device so that I can see the piano. Materials will be determined by the class and level, and those will need to be purchased, but will be kept to a minimum. Music Theory Class You do not need a piano at home for this class. What styles of piano do you teach? Ms. Julia teaches all styles, from rock, pop and jazz to country, blues and classical. We are happy to teach students who have traditional pianos or keyboards. How qualified is Ms. Julia?
Ms. Julia started teaching piano and harp in 1996. She holds a Master's Degree in Business Education from Emporia State University. What will I learn from classes? For Piano Class: Ms. Julia will show you the fundamentals of sight reading, technique and theory, and incorporate some fun songs into your classes whenever possible. For Music Theory Class: Ms. Julia will teach you all about rhythms, dynamics, instruments, note reading (on the treble and bass clefs) interval identification and understanding, as well as many other concepts depending on the class level. Do I have to know how to read music? No. Ms. Julia loves beginners! Are there tests or evaluations? There will be the opportunity to take a completion test for each theory level as well as performance test for the piano class.
